The VIN is required so we can run a conflict-of-interest check. We never serve as umpire on a vehicle we've previously appraised for either party, and we represent no party in the matter.

My insurer requires a paid receipt naming the umpire before they'll proceed. Some carriers now demand proof the umpire was engaged and paid in advance, which a free confirmation can't produce. Tick this and each side pays $49 up front for a receipt to hand them, which comes off the step-in fee rather than adding to it — $199 per side remains, owed only if both appraisers ask for a written determination. Your side totals $248 on either path.Leave it unticked if your carrier doesn't ask for a receipt. And if you already know the two of you won't agree on value, leave it unticked and request the determination straight away instead: the full $248 is collected before valuation work begins, so it produces a receipt too — in one payment rather than two.
